Dear Justin Families:
Character Trait Focus for December:
Color - White
Animal - Cardinal
Joy - Finding a way to be happy, even when things don’t go your way.
Our animal this month is the cardinal, commonly known as a “red bird.” Three different types live in North and South America. They have strong bills and feed mostly on seeds; especially sunflower seeds. They also eat insects and fruit.
District Advisory Committee - The DAC has the responsibility of objectively reviewing data regarding enrollment and operational efficiency at all school sites. Based on this review, they developed recommendations for the Board of Education regarding possible closure and repurposing of schools. Part of their recommendation is to close Justin Elementary and repurpose it as an Early Childhood Learning Center. A final decision has not yet been made. This final decision will be made by the Board of Education. Many of you have asked how you can help and express your feelings. Tuesday, December 10th at 6:30 PM is the next School Board meeting at City Hall. You may have the opportunity to speak to the Board by making a public comment at the opening of the meeting after completing a blue comment card. If you are not comfortable speaking to the Board, you can also fill out a yellow comment card indicating your concerns. Each of these cards is recognized and noted in the official minutes of the meeting. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Upcoming Important Meetings:
* December 12- DAC Meeting- The committee will meet to make final recommendations to be presented as
action items at the January 14th Board meeting.
* January 8 & January 9 - Public Hearings will be conducted at affected school sites to explain boundary
